Flavonoid.com

Our Philosophy

A founder’s note on choosing the identity before the launch.

PremiumBrands.com exists because I like names I would be willing to build on myself. When I look at Flavonoid.com, I see a founder with a clear subject: plant ingredients, food science and the work of making those subjects useful. I can picture the name on a supplier introduction or an editor's invitation without needing a long explanation of what connects the work.

I learned to pay attention to that feeling through running a business. In 2007, I acquired the press release distribution business operating on i-Newswire.com. In 2013, I secured iNewswire.com. Each step brought the identity closer to where I wanted it, but I kept working toward the name that felt right for the business we were building.

The morning the name changed

In February 2015, after more than a year of negotiating and consulting SEO professionals, we moved the business to Newswire.com. I remember the morning of that switch because a prospect told one of our sales agents, “Oh yeah, Newswire.com. I've heard of you guys.” It was the first morning. That recollection stayed with me because the business and the team had done the work before the new name appeared.

The name gave us a different way to introduce the same work. It was a direct name for the category we were in, and I liked being able to say it without explaining a prefix or an extra piece. The experience made the identity question concrete for me. A business name gets used in ordinary moments, by ordinary people, and those moments add up.

The business was later acquired in 2022. The team's work and the business itself were what changed hands. I mention that history because it explains why I care about the names I choose, rather than treating a name as a substitute for building something useful.

Buying before the plan was ready

I bought PremiumBrands.com before I had a plan for it. Premium names matter to me, and I knew waiting would probably cost me the chance to use this one. By now it could belong to someone building on it, in which case it would most likely not be for sale at all. I preferred to make the decision while the choice was still available.

My test is simple: would I build on this? The names I haven't built on yet are the ones I'm open to selling. That gives the collection a personal basis. I am imagining the work I would want to put behind a name, rather than collecting words only because they look attractive in a list.

Flavonoid.com passes that test for a particular kind of founder. I would want the venture to be useful at the level of a real decision: which supplier question to ask, which source to read, which part of a food-composition table needs explaining. A name with a scientific subject gives the founder something to keep returning to as the service becomes more capable.

The work and the name grow together

The fix-it-later mindset is easy to understand. There is always another task that feels more urgent before launch. But changing a name later means changing email addresses, packaging, contributor agreements and the words a team has already been using. I prefer to make that identity decision early, so the work can accumulate in one place.

AI makes it possible to build many parts of an early product faster. In my view, that increases the value of a recognizable identity, one of the few things another team cannot simply copy. The founder can keep improving the product while introducing it under the name they meant to use from the beginning.

A great name won't save a bad business. I still want the useful service, the careful sourcing decision and the well-edited article. My work through OnlineBusiness.com keeps me interested in how those choices become a real offering. With Flavonoid, I see room for a founder to make that work specific and worth returning to.

If Flavonoid.com fits your plans, tell us what you have in mind. If your best name is outside the collection, PremiumBrands can help you pursue that one too. Either conversation starts with the business you want to introduce and the identity you want to keep. A premium .com is a trust shortcut.
